Started in 1980, the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), is a non-profit, membership affiliated organization that provides a nationwide support system to state and local law enforcement for the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of economic and high-tech crime. We are a grant-funded organization supported primarily by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Bureau of Justice Assistance and other competitive grants. With membership comprised of state and local law enforcement, prosecutorial and regulatory agencies, we equip these groups with the training, support and research needed to tackle emerging economic and cyber crime.

The Requirements

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, communications or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Based in one of our conveniently located offices in either Richmond, VA or Fairmont, WV, you will also need to be willing and able to travel approximately 10% of the time.

The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Communications Manager will support a wide variety of corporate communication activities and oversee a team of eight professionals including a senior writer, website/media specialist, communications and public relations specialist, graphic designer, membership supervisor, membership associate, communications associate, and receptionist.

Your mission will be to set the tone and direction of our brand and corporate identity through all printed and online material and the development of marketing and communication plans. Working closely with executive management to facilitate approvals, you'll then be charged with implementing approved marketing efforts with the help of your team. In addition to driving the creation of our quarterly Informant magazine, monthly newsletter, annual report and other collateral, you will also work with our Information Technology Section to oversee and implement internal and external communications activities to include marketing, special events and public relations that effectively support our service and initiatives. More specifically, you will:
  • Participate in formulating and administering NW3C policies and develop short-term and long-range goals and objectives.
  • Manage the implementation and operation of internal and external communications-related programs that meet NW3C's goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate the processes necessary to manage NW3C's current activities and its projected growth.
  • Ensure that the activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Formulate and recommend NW3C's overall communications strategy and direction.
  • Manage communications budget, production schedules, and status reporting.
  • Maintain overall corporate brand identity in print and in all media setting style, usage guidelines and standards.
  • Drive creation of corporate collateral including member newsletter, brochures, white papers, internal and external Web sites, and other materials.
  • Create pitch opportunities for feature articles, interviews, presentations, and other public relations activities that promote awareness of our company and its services.
  • Develop and execute media plan to include social networking sites.
  • Write executive speeches and organization news releases.
  • Create business development tools including public advocacy letters, presentation templates and corporate presentations.
  • Develop and implements direct mail and e-mail campaigns.
  • Develop and plan annual conferences and summits.
  • Manage corporate participation at tradeshow events.
  • Support internal staff including training, research, investigative support, and special project groups.
  • Perform special projects and other appropriate duties as assigned, including coordination with other personnel.
